This is an attempt to add support for the E3 chipset based scanners such as the Genius Vivid Pro USB scanner. In theory it should support the following scanners as they use the same chipset. Can you please let me know if your scanner is supported.
- Genius Vivid Pro USB
- Primax Colorado USB 19200
- Visioneer OneTouch 7600
- Visioneer OneTouch 6100
- IBM IdeaScan 2000 USB
- LG Electronics Scanworks 600U
Please don't contact me for support. Try the following Primax website first or contact your scanner manufacturer. I don't work for Primax or any of these other companies and I don't use Windows. I can't provide you with any help.
Just got some info on the Visioneer 8920 from Andy Ziem, plus extra info on the Primax 2400u from Buce Dudek. Check the hardware page for more details.
Thanks to Giovanni Santarelli we have configrmed support for LG Scanworks 600U
If you have having build problems please take a look at the FAQ as their appears to be an issue with GCC 3.2.
Fixed a lot of the build related issues and the latests 0.6 release works against sane 1.0.9. Still a lot of debugging required, and i'd like to migrate to libusb so I can avoid the kernel patch. Please check the changelog for more details.
Current kernel patch works on the 2.4.18 and 2.4.19 kernels as well as 2.4.17.
Just updated support for some of the newer 2.4.x series kernels. Please check the changelog for more details. I now hope to sort out the problems with the 0.5 release and improve support for Sane 1.0.6 and 1.0.7.
I have been having some website problems hence these pages disappeared for a couple of days. Anyhow things appear to be working again now
I have added a note above because of all the windows related emails I have been getting. Hope to do some work on the driver this weekend.
Added a counter to the main page as it appears Genius now link to my driver from their Linux support page. It will be interesting to see how many hits I get.
There have been some problems with the mailing list server which are hopefully sorted out now. With luck I can sort out support for Sane 1.0.6 and the latest kernel releases in the next couple of weeks.
Just a site update. I now have a docs directory with some information on related chipsets. I have also started a hardware section to keep track of the various scanners this driver might support and their various chipsets. The links section has also been updated.
Also some users are experiencing problems with the 0.5 release. I haven't been able to debug this properly as my scanner is currently in its box whilst I decorate the office. Help debugging this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to the help the members of the mailing list have already given.
Release 0.5 which improves the debugging support and adds the Visioneer 6100 to the supported scanners.
Create the Viceo_users mailing list, and change the contact email address.
Update kernel files to support 2.4.8.
I can now confirm that the driver supports the Primax USB 19200, and thanks to Gael Schinkel for testing this. I have also added an FAQ section to help people get things up and running.
Update driver to support Sane 1.0.5 and modified release to be a patch file to the sane source rather than a series of tar archives. This should simplify installation.
Released updated sanner.c/h for 2.4.4 kernel in the form of a patch file for the standard kernel source. See downloads for the file.
Moved site to new home. Hope to get 2.4.x versions of scanner.c/h up in the next week or two.
Current release is 0.3 which fixes some crashes and tidies up ini file support. Also take a look at the Guide Dog Puppy my partner is sponsoring. The image was scanned using this driver and XScan and then cropped using Gimp.
Contact Steven Ellis about the driver, or join the Mailing List.
